Neat! So where we are now standing, we have three judges (learningtimebuster, lavatarorigin, and myself) and one contestant (shslsplicehet). One more of each and we'll be good to go.
In the past, the deadline for this contest has created problems. Although it was originally designed to be a quickfire, timed challenge (in the style of Iron Chef), it seems like most of the time one or more of the splicers wasn't able to complete the challenge in time. What do our judges, contestant and audience think we should do about this going forward? Give up on the deadline completely? Have a relaxed time frame, like one week? Or possibly crack down harder and if someone doesn't finish, just automatically award the victory to the other side?

I'd be cool with a 48 hour deadline considering that it happens on Friday so those two days are Saturday and Sunday But maybe some others would like monday tacked on to finish off what they can? Maybe even just extend it to Wednesday or Thursday? Or or or Add a grade for punctuality? Though that seems kinda ehhhhhh

I want to be a part of this again, but I'm afraid to be a contestant again (since most of the time issues were my fault), and I don't think I'd make a good judge.

Since the forums haven't been so active recently, I say we drop the deadline, for now at least. When the forum starts going back to its former popularity or close to it, that's when I think deadlines should come back.

It seems like we have two contestants and three judges. I'd like to have one more judge if possible, and I'll have to confirm with everyone before anything is official, but I'm excited that this contest is once again coming together!

I knew it'd be back as soon as the forum revived. Now we just need Muffy and everything will be complete.

Alright, that's a full complement!
The contestants will be shslsplicehet and ohctanex, and the judges will be lavatarorigin, learningtimebuster, shadedwind and myself. I'll set the contest to start on Tuesday the 18th at 2 pm Pacific time (5 pm Eastern, 10 pm GMT) assuming everyone checks in to confirm by that time. Otherwise, we'll reschedule.
I do think a deadline is important-- if we leave it open-ended it might wind up stretching on for months as some of the contests on this forum do... so I will suggest a hard deadline of one week-- if only one collection gets posted in time, that person will win by default. If neither contestant posts within one week, the contest is over with no winner. Sound fair? (If not, say so! and we can talk about it.)
If you have volunteered to be a judge or contestant, please respond to this post so we know you're ready to go!
If you would like to be a judge or contestant, feel free to respond. I'll start a waitlist for the next Iron Splicer contest.

At long last, it is time! Welcome back to Iron Splicer! Just a quick refresher on the rules, since it's been a while... Each contestant has one week, starting from the minute of this post, to create a collection of four splices. Splicers may use any Gen-IV or Gen-V trainer or Pokemon sprites to make their splices, but each splice must feature the Secret Ingredient, the Gen-V sprite provided below. When both splicers have submitted their collections, each of four judges will give each sprite a score from 1 to 10 based on technical skill and creativity. Each judge will also give the whole collection a score from 1 to 10 for variety and the use of the Secret Ingredient. Additional comments from the judges are encouraged! When all is said and done, I will tally up the scores and announce a winner. The winner will receive a custom trophy made by our very own lavatarorigin, as well as the coveted title of Iron Splicer. Alright, let's go! shslsplicehet, ohctanex! Your Secret Ingredient is... Drapion! Good luck to both splicers! A la epissure!

To any judges who don't remember or know: Send your scores to pokemonscrap in a private message, as to not spoil it in the forum. Also, to contestants for this round and future ones, I've been thinking that just a single trophy of a pokemon is a little light of a prize. So if you would like, I will also make a trophy of your profile picture (if its a sprite of some sort) or a sprite that represents you.

lavatarorigin just took this to the next level. Well done, sir.
I'll send a private message to the judges soon with a template scorecard, and you can respond to that to send me scores.
