Battle: Gloom is over! Congratulations to both splicers.
Each splice received a score out of ten from each judge, and the whole collection also received a score out of ten from each judge. The scores have been tallied together to protect the anonymity of the judges, so the scores are presented here out of forty. The contestant with the highest total score wins the trophy and the coveted title of Iron Splicer!
Here are the scores for this week's battle, along with some of the judges' comments:
BananawaddledeeSplice 1: 36/40"Great concept and execution."
"The sand effect could be better, but looks nicely done."
"This is just amazing. The rocks and sand were handled perfectly."
Splice 2: 25/40"I like the idea, but the pieces don't fit together very well."
"I like this one because it's cute yet also unsettling. A few points off because the legs don't seem to blend with the body."
"Hehe it's kinda cute how it looks like it's eating grass."
Splice 3: 23/40"I feel like this splice was really lazy. Mostly just a recolor with some drool added to it."
"The drool looks unnatural, and the sprite itself is very simple."
"I don't get enough Gloom out of this-- it's mostly just a recolored Garbodor."
Splice 4: 23/40"Another simply done splice where the drool looks too unnatural."
"Simple but very effective."
"This splice is cute but it feels simple."
Whole collection: 26/40"I love the variety of shapes and styles, and the consistent use of drool."
"There was one splice that got a lot of attention, and everything else seemed uninspired."
"Not as much creativity and variety as there could have been, considering there is no limit to how many pokemon can be used within one splice; nobody has done a single gijinka in this contest yet (wink wink)"
Total: 133VGBMichaelSplice 1: 32/40"I like this splice and the way that it shifts the focus from Gloom's face to the leaves. Very nice aesthetic flow."
"Great use of the pieces, very creative."
"A bit odd, but at least implements multiple Pokemon."
Splice 2: 28/40"Nice elements, great color scheme. But fire doesn't burn downward!"
"I like the idea of a Grass type on fire. My only qualm is the color choice for the body."
Splice 3: 24/40"This splice is nice, but there's nothing remarkable about it."
"Simple and neat."
Splice 4: 21/40"Certainly different, but doesn't quite look right."
"This one doesn't really work for me."
"This is a really cute idea, but simple.
Whole Collection: 27/40"I would have like to see a bit more variety, especially in the color. But all of the splices were good."
"Some good individual pieces, but I would have liked to see some more variety."
Total: 132Holy Miltank, that was close! Congratulations to Bananawaddledee on a well-deserved victory!
