Thank you metsy, they look great!
Muffyfoo, you have until 3:00 pm GMT (10:00 am Eastern; 7:00 am Pacific) to submit your four splices.
Does anyone have any way of reaching muffyfoo? I hope they remember that this contest is on!

Congratulations to both contestants! It has been an amazing battle. Each splice received a score out of ten from each judge, and the whole collection also received a score out of ten from each judge. The scores have been tallied together to protect the anonymity of the judges, so the scores are presented here out of forty. The contestant with the highest total score wins the trophy and the coveted title of Iron Splicer! Here are the scores for this week's battle, along with some of the judges' comments: MetsySplice 1: 22/40"This feels less like a splice and more like a bunch of things slapped together. Also, the color scheme is far from aesthetically pleasing." "Definitely creative, but the spheal arms were just too weird for me." Splice 2: 26/40"I really like the concept behind this, and the tree trunk pattern was executed well." "Also creative, but the parts and colors don't flow properly at all." Splice 3: 33/40"I like the idea of fuzzy ball registeel, and the fuzz looks very nicely done." "I don't see this as a retype, but I do like that you turned it from steel to fluff, so a few extra points there." Splice 4: 35/40"Very nice very smooth indeed, the white shine at the top looks bothersome though." "This one is my favorite. Everything seems to flow together very well. And it's amusing to think that when you send this Pokemon out, it seems menacing, and then it opens it's mouth." Whole Collection: 29/40"Took advantage of being unlimited in the amount of pokemon usable, creative overall." "This collection doesn't seem to work together, although there are strong individual splices." Total: 135Muffyfoo:Splice 1: 26/40"This splice is very adorable, but also pretty simple." "Simple, but looks nice." Splice 2: 28/40"This one is interesting, but I can't take Luvdisc seriously." "Also simple, but nicely done." Splice 3: 34/40"Deoxys' right arm could have been aligned so it doesn't overlap with the chest, making it look weird." "This splice blew me away. Everything about it works really well." Splice 4: 30/40"Although not much was done with this splice, I like it just for the comedic value." "Not very creative, but smooth shading." Whole Collection: 32/40"Looks nice overall, but lacks much variety (which is okay, given your schedule)." "The collection seems to build into more and more awesome splices with an unexpected twist at the end." Total: 150Congratulations to Muffyfoo on a hard-fought victory! And to the winner go the spoils. You have earned the title of Iron Splicer: Registeel, and this handsome trophy made by lavatarorigin for your signature (or for any other place you care to put it). You have also earned the right to stay on to meet another challenger this Friday in another Iron Splicer contest, if you so choose. Metsy, amazing work and great dedication. You are welcome to sign up to try again in another Iron Splicer contest (and, if you do, you'll be first on the list because no one else has signed up yet!).

Well, the time has come to plan for the next. At the moment, we haven't got any participants signed up, so we may not be ready to go this Friday. I'd like to start building a waiting list so we can go on a regular schedule, but I'm not sure how to generate that kind of interest...
We seemed to have some trouble with the 48-hour time limit. What I was going for in choosing that number was something that kept some pressure on but wouldn't be un-doable for anyone. Should we extend the time limit, maybe make it three days?
Feedback desired from contestants, judges and fans. What do we think? Any other comments or suggestions for making this contest better?

Nice job Muffyfoo! I'll contend again lol. But definitely bump me down a bunch if other people claim spots. Three days should be good. The two days was good too, I was just thrown off by timezones. I'd like to thank you (even though the post was for muffyfoo) including different timezones when reminding them. Silly internet I also really like the way you guys judged. The scores and comments were organized well and now if I do it again, or even in other contests, or just splice in general, I know what I can do better and what I can avoid. Thanks judges! (edit) Oh and really valid opinions! I totally get where you guys were coming from, especially my first splice. Blame jynx for the colors haha. They were sorta rushed but that was no excuse given the extended time. Yay for constructive criticismsss

I was planning to keep a steady roster of judges, rather than a new set each week. However, we could certainly work out a rotation if people would prefer. That would allow judges to sometimes take turns as contestants too!

Ok, sounds like we've got VGBMichael as a contestant for today! I haven't heard from muffyfoo whether or not she wants to defend her title, though.
I'm also not seeing anyone offering up a permanent judgeship for zaxis, so I'm assuming that for the moment we're keeping the same roster of four judges.

Alright!
Unless we hear from muffyfoo within the next couple of hours, I'll assume she does not want to defend her title this week and we'll go with VGBmichael and Bananawaddledee as this week's contestants (if muffyfoo does appear and wishes to go again, then unfortunately bananawaddledee will have to wait until next week).
As with last week, I'll be posting the secret ingredient at 10:00 pm GMT, 5:00 Eastern, 2:00 pacific, so about three hours and twenty minutes from now. The contestants will have 72 hours (until that same time on Monday) to put together their collection of four splices.

It is time! VGBMichael, bananawaddledee... Your secret ingredient is... Gloom! Remember, you have 72 hours to make four splices using the sprite above and any other front-facing, 4th gen or 5th gen trainer or pokemon sprites. Post your four splices to this thread! For this contest, we'll be keeping the same four judges: lavatarorigin, samson, chandelure and myself (pokemonscrap). Good luck to you both! A la épissure!
