Okay, so what's the verdict on this then? Are we just going to postpone the contest until next summer? Personally, I think the problem isn't necessarily that people don't have time, it's that they were forgetting. People will sign up and be like 'yeah i'm ready' and then they forget about it til the deadline. That happened even when there wasn't school. So maybe if we tried a round where we continuously reminded the competitors about the upcoming deadline, they wouldn't forget to make their entries? And perhaps we could increase the deadline a bit for school if people wanted.
