Oof, sorry. Got roped into errands at the crucial moment. The one-week time limit will start at 2:00 pm PDT, which is about fifteen minutes after this post. Sorry for the mix-up. kullenuska, Blake, your very own Iron Splicer adventure is about to begin! You have 7 days to post your collection of four original splices, including any 4th- or 5th generation Pokemon or trainer sprites, all featuring the Secret Ingredient provided below. Your Secret Ingredient is... Larvitar!Good luck to you both! A la epissure!

Let's get this party started then Finally something small enough to fit into Reuniclus! ...wrong. this gave me hell. Tried for a Reuniclus-Tyranitar but had to recruit some others. Tiny Reshiram! MILD CONCERN and now for something completely similar larvitar has similar weird-chunky-frill features with ho-oh and shedinja so i thought i'd put em all in one has less larvitar than I'd like but i guess that balances out the other 500% Larvitar splices up there. also shiny green

Ok, if I understand everyone's wishes correctly, the current waitlist should look like this:
1. VGBMichael 2. Alakazarn 3. Ohctanex 4. Makkilemore
Kullenuska and Blake, you are off to a great start! Keep it up!

Yep, what Makkilemore said. I'll add you back on the list at #5, but that could come up anytime after about two weeks (because not every contest takes a full week). After a couple of weeks have passed, you'll have to remember to check back every few days just in case.

i finally finished my splices but y'know. it's so hard to do when the ingredient isn't just nubs for legs and arms. it's nubs for everything and if you don't use everything you're not using enough. whatever's next round, please let it have substantial limbs and body. i don't want neckbody pokemon any more. two in a row is killing me

How are Iron Splicer mons picked anyways? Random?

I've actually chosen each one-- trying to get a variety of generations, types and evolution stages. I'm sincerely sorry that some of the choices I made have made things feel more difficult for some of the splicers, it's never been my intention to deliberately make the challenge harder or less rewarding. Obviously some sprites are easier to work with than others, but then, that's true of Iron Chef and the other competition shows this challenge is based on-- sometimes you get something easy and create something truly awe-inspiring, and sometimes you get something more challenging and get to show off how well you can do in bad circumstances.
Like I said, I really am sorry that I've chosen sprites that have made the competition less fun. I can definitely appreciate Kullenuska's hope that we have Secret Ingredients in a different style moving forward, but I'm also wary about making my choices specifically to suit one splicer's preference... that seems like it has a lot of potential to bias the competition. To be honest, I don't know how to resolve that. Perhaps all our splicers could weigh in on what kinds of Pokemon they prefer and I can do my best to find one that makes everyone happy.
Going in the other direction, I could switch to a random number generator. That still has a lot of potential to wind up with challenging Secret Ingredients, but at least it resolves the issue of human error.
A third option is that I could pass off the duty of choosing the Secret Ingredient to another judge. It may simply be that my eye for Secret Ingredients is "out of tune" with the eyes of others and one of the other judges would do a better job of choosing sprites that everyone would enjoy. If any of the other judges would like to take a shot at choosing the next ingredient, they can let me know.

Also, Blake, I hope you're still with us! You've got about 26.5 hours left to post your three remaining sprites!
