Sure, I probably wont be here either because I'm too lazy to check the timezones. But I mean even if I'm not it's cool

This is totally noon, right? *sideways glance* My bad, folks. The contest will start officially at 4 pm PDT, and will go until the same time next Wednesday. Sorry about the delay. alakazarn, Makkilemore, your very own Iron Splicer adventure is about to begin! You have seven days to post your collection of four original splices. You may use any official 4th- or 5th-generation Pokemon or trainer sprites, but all your splices must include the Secret Ingredient, the 5th-gen sprite shown below. This challenge's Secret Ingredient is... Aerodactyl!Good luck to both splicers! A la Epissure!

Ooh, Aerodactyl can be a bit hard to use. I know I hate using it. I can't wait to see the results!

Gonna do what LAT did last time and not post them all at once Demonic snake thing feat. Dragonair and Magmortar Lugia+Aerodactyl with Tentacruel colors because they're prettier A Piasa, based on this account by Jacques Marquette, found conveniently on Wikipedia, and a couple of pictures. Not sure how accurate it is compared to actual Native American stories. Pokemon used: Aerodactyl, Seviper, Sawsbuck,Probopass, Pidgeot, Pinsir. Fairodactyl! It's a big cute flying happy creature. (Mime Jr., Azumarill, Togekiss, Snubbull Colors)

Two can play at this game. (ALSO I FEEL LIKE ADDING TYPINGS AND ABILITIES CAUSE I CAN) Bush beast! Grass/Flying with Chlorophyll The purest bred of all purebred dragons that were ever bred. Dragon with Mold Breaker I promised myself I would use Aerodactyl's head in every sprite but this is getting hard. Bug/Dragon with Speed Boost I decided to make my last one much more simple Flying/Rock with Adaptability

If Alakazarn is confident in his current four and doesn't intend to change them, would it be cool to end as soon as all the points are in as opposed to waiting until Wednesday? In my case I'm ready, so yea.

The splices are done, and the scores have been tabulated. Each splice received a score out of ten from each judge, and the whole collection also received a score out of ten from each judge. The scores have been tallied together to protect the anonymity of the judges, so the scores are presented here out of forty. The contestant with the highest total score wins the trophy and the coveted title of Iron Splicer! Here are the scores for this week's battle, along with some of the judges' comments: Makkilemore
Splice #1: 33/40"Only flaw is some slight shading issues." "What an interesting concept. Pretty good work overall." Splice #2: 28/40"I personally wouldn't have gone with this particular colouring scheme." "At first it seemed too simple, but it's really grown on me. The space under the near wing is misshapen." Splice #3: 18/40"Interesting idea, but the final product is weird and has too little Aerodactyl." "Wow, this is horrifying but refreshingly different. I see several shading issues and some areas just lack it." Splice #4: 25/40"Aside from the very awkwardly placed wings, I rather like this one." "This is totally cute. The ears could have been placed better." Whole collection: 28/40"Glad to see you're taking risks and making a challenge for yourself." "It certainly boasts creativity, but the execution of these ideas could've gone better." Total: 132
Alakazarn
Splice #1: 31/40"Almost perfect!" "Shading's inconsistent on the body, mainly the wings. It's amusing to think of a flying bush." Splice #2: 28/40"I don't see much of a change to Haxorus other than color, head, tail tip, and jewel thing." "While it looks quite good, this is only thanks to the mostly unedited base of Haxorus. The tailwing doesn't seem appropriate, either." Splice #3: 25/40"Now this is pretty awesome. Laughing forever at the tiny wings." "Is it cold out?" Splice #4: 19/40"Way too simple. It took me a few looks to realize it's not just a Crobat sprite." "Very basic, but it is rather smooth." Whole Collection: 26/40"All of them are either technically applaudable but visually sub-par, or the other way around." "I feel like there was a slack on half of these while the others are unique." Total: 129By a narrow margin, the winner is Makkilemore! Congratulations! And to the victor go the spoils. Makkilemore, you have earned the coveted title of Iron Splicer: Aerodactyl, as well as this handsome trophy made by lavatarorigin: You also win a second lavatarorigin trophy of your highest-scoring splice (#1!), and the opportunity to return for our next Iron Splicer challenge to defend your championship! Alakazarn, a truly outstanding effort. You too are welcome to come back anytime to compete again in Iron Splicer!
